The Story Behind The Ashta Dhasha Peethas
The
Actual Story behind the Ashta Dhasha Peethas Invention is, in the past There
was a King Daksha Prajapathi, he is the son of Brahma. The Daskha Prajapati had 27
daughters, Sati Devi was one of them. Daksha had done the marriage of Sati Devi
with the god Shiva. Due to some reasons Daksha felt insulted by God Shiva at
the time of Agni Yaga, because of that reason Daksha does not invite his
Daughter (Satidevi) and his Son-in-Law (God Shiva) to the Daksha Yaga. But Sati
Devi Went to that Yaga by ignoring the words of Lord Shiva (Lord Shiva does not
give permission to go to the Yaga). At the Place of Yaga Sati Devi Insulted by
the Activities of her Parents and Sisters and her father Daksha Scolded Lord Shiva
then the Sati Devi got angry and she could not bear it and she sacrificed
herself by producing Agni from the earth with her right thumb of Foot. By
hearing this news lord Shiva got angry and he picked bunch of Jhatha from his
head and hit it on the Earth, then Lord Veerabhadra has born and went to the
Yaga place as intimated by God Shiva and Lord Veerabhadra killed Dhaksha by
cutting his head with Veerabhadra's Nail after some time God Shiva rushed in to
the Yaga Location and Fixed the head of Goat to the Daksha (Daksha got his life
back) then Lord Shiva took the body of Sati Devi and went back to the Kailasam
and Danced (Thandavam) very seriously with the body of Sati Devi. All the people
scared with his thandavam by seeing this Lord Vishnu was requested to stop the Thandavam then Lord Vishnu realized that Lord Shiva will not stop the
Nritya until the body of Sati Devi destroyed from his hand then Lord Vishnu
used his Vishnu Chakram to cut the body. Body Parts which are destroyed by
Sudharshan Chakra fallen in several places (18) in INDIA & SHRILANKA and
those places turned as Shakti Peethas. Shakti Peethas and Photos Listed
